At Christmas my Jewel 240L tank crashed. Woke up one morning and all fish hanging at the top and the only visible problem was the outlet nozzel on the internal filter had blown off (the one that comes with the tank). As I had checked the tank before I went to bed and had only had a couple of hrs I thought "surely this hasn't caused the tank to start cycling" but I went and got a new nozzel just to be sure. For two weeks I did continual water changes (day and night) until eventually the tank started to get back to normality.

Woke up this morning and guess what? Yes the nozzel has been blown off and the nitrites are through the roof!

Is this just a problem I have or has anyone else had the same thing happen? This time I have a spare external filter so after I did a 50% water change I set that up.

Sorry to hear that. I dont understand what you mean when you say 'blown off'. Can you pls. explain?

Never had that happen on mine the only thing i did have with my internal juwel was the rubber between the power head and the filter intake body perished so there was no longer a tight fit and the water went with the path of least resistance and so didnt go through my filter properly. Juwel had noted the problem a few months after I bought the tank and changed it round so they kindly gave me a new filter intake body with the new moulding on it. Everythings fine now

Sure..the force of the pump seperated the ouput nozzel from the main pump unit and it landed in the middle of the tank.
