More Info: I bought a net breeder today after having issues with fish jumping out of the plastic 3-way breeder I was using in anticipation of isolating the fish in question. I did a 25% water change, then setup the net breeder. Roughly 6 hours ago I netted her and another female who were obviously pregnant and near birthing (maybe you can see the eyes in the pictures). At that time the platy in question was fine, and both went into the net breeder with little or no effort. I came in to feed (bloodworms for these two in hopes of healthy babies) and noticed this ugly spot on her head. The other platy doesn't seem to be harrassing her, they both seem to be just hanging out in the breeder.

In that short period of time it's probably a nasty scrape. Plenty of water changes along with melafix should help.

OK, so new news - I added some melafix this afternoon, the platy in question was doing fine, no change to the spot but still seeming healthy. Then sometime this evening I noticed that the other platy in the net breeder had the same spot, in hte same place, but much less severe. Even odder to me is that the 5 other fish are fine, it is just the two in the net breeder.

So I let those two platy out of the net breeder 'cause they don't seem like they will be giving birth in the next few days in hopes of lowering thier stress and helping thier recovery, but really, what is going on here?

looks fungusy to me, treat with melafix for the next 7 days.

MelaFix is probably ok but PimaFix is the more fungal specific treatment by API I have just had fungus near wipe out a tank of mine so best to be safe then sorry and get the melafix in there as it does treat some fungal problems aswell as heal wounds

I would cover the melafix with pimafix as well.
