I woke up this morning and found that my heater had a crack in it, and right after I noticed it the glass vile fell to the bottom of the tank. I grabed my tank cleaner ( the suction thing) and removed 60% of the water. But now I am worried, what is in those heaters (glass tube style)? I don't have a addl tank so taking the fish out of the tank is not really an opition. what should I do????

Try and remove whatever you can see (glass wise) and do a gravel vac.
And get a new heater ! :good:

I took out all the galss I think, it was a clean break, I figure it happened when I did my last water cleaning beacuse I forgot to turn it off and then removed water so it was no longer submurged, but yea i'm gonna get a new heater today..........

that exact thing happened to me. your fish should be fine. just make sure you get all the glass out so the fish dont try to eat it!

thay all seem to be ok, Althought this new heater is being a pest ( either to hot or to cold) but over the next few days I think i'm gonna use this thread in case some werid or odd behaviour pops up in the tank...... Thanks to everyone for the replies and the PM's

That has happened to me before. My cat broke my heater. It shattered inside the tank. I imediatly took all the fish out and into another tank and went straight to petco and got another. All my fish lived through it. Even my chinese alage eater who got hurt when it broke. If i were you I would just get a new heater before anything happens. :)
