I have a fluval 240 roma tank 306 filter. i currently have 12 danios and 6 mollies in tank. one of the danios is just hanging in the water and has developed red spots on his body - started off with one and in last hour two more have appeared. should i remove him? no other fish seem to be effected and all swimming normally, although all seem to be avoiding him. fish have been in for two weeks after fishless cycle.

temp is 24
amonia and nitrites are 0
nitrates 25ppm
25% water change donE yesterday.

will he effect rest of tank?

HELP

anyone? complete newbie here need help

Although I have danios of my own, I am sorry to say I cannot help.
It may assist, however, if you could post a pic of the fish - yes I know they don't stay still for very long!!!!

sadly he has passed away (first fish i have lost) i feel awful, don't know what i've done wrong all the rest seem fine, i thought if anything it would be the mollies that might be difficult, I thought danios were bomb proof.
Thankyou for the reply though.

Sorry you lost your fish, don't blame yourself. You have good water quality and made a good chioce to fishless cycle.
I had 4 danios as my first fish, loosing one and another injured after being trapped in a plastic plant.
When i got them i didn't realise they do better in cooler water, around 18-20C, as they're a sub tropical species. I'd love to get more, but as i keep my tank at 24deg not sure it's a good idea now. :dunno:
