My Cory Spongebob just died and now my Cory Patrick is acting wierd. I never saw Spongebob acting this way-i just came one one day and he was sucked up against the intake filter dead. I put Patrick in a quarantine tank and sometimes I think he's dead because he's lying on his side then he's up swimming around and eating. Then I thought he was dead again because he floated up to the top of the tank very still like then he'd swim to the bottom and start over again. He did this a few more times then he started acting normal again. He has no abnormal outward appearance except he is a litter darker and I know that can be a sign of illness. Today I came home and he was lying on his side but when I touched the tank he was up swimming again -_- What should I do? I have 5 Zebra Danios and 4 Neon Tetra's that seem fine. I did lose a pleco a few months back and I never knew why. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks! :dunno:

Danios need more room than a ten gallon tank. They need to move to push water over their gills and breathe.

I think you have far too many fish in that tank. that's why the fish aren't doing too well.

Cories are weak fish, so I'd say the water quality in your tank isn't too good.

Check your water for ammonia, nitritre, and nitrate levels. If you don't have a test kit, you should raelly get one.

That is how my cory acted befor he died. I would do a partial water change and bring a sample to your lfs for testing. IMHO, I really dont think your tank is overstocked. It looks like you have less than 12'' of fish in a 10g. If you go by the 1'' per gal guideline, your fine. ;)

My cory just died about and hour ago :( I did purchase a 20 gallon tank and when it's cycled I'll move the fish over. Thanks for all the advice!

I'm so sorry for this - I was hoping that he would pull through. Please try cories again someday in your 20 (or even the 10) when you get things stable again.

Thanks! I will get some more Cories when the new tank is ready. I think they are very interesting to watch. :)
