hi i just spoke to the people at the pet store they said that the fish is probably giving birth but has a worm and the worm is making its insides come out? is this true has anyone heard of this? i rang a few places and none of them had heard of it..one guy just said the fish is bloated. pls help
Is the worm red, livebearers get camallanous worms.
This is going to sound awful but if her insides are coming out I would destroy her, sorry.
You will need to treat the tank to save the rest, but the only med available in the uk is through a vet.
hi thanks for the reply..my poor fish died
how would i know what colour the worm is? i cant actualy see a worm..they do have red, white and brown poo would the red be worms?
are all my fish going to die is there anything i can do?!?!
what is the name of the stuff needed to treat the tank??
R.I.P. Bless her.
Camallanous worms are white till they feed on the host blood then they go red.
Do you feed blood worms as red poo is a sign of parasites.
Red and white poo like balls of mince meat can be thread worms.
Levaimsole the name of the med, but you can only get it from a vet.
yes i feed a lot of blood worms every day do they carry parasites?? or would this just be why the poo is red?
i rang almost every fish place i could find and one guy told me that if i come to his store (which is about 2 dam hours away), and bring my own syringe he can give me stuff to fix it but he cant sell it and wouldnt tell me the name of it. would yous do it? he seemed to know what he was talking about and was the only person who diagnosed it as a worm. the rest of the pet store people just told me it was probably bloated.
ive just been to the local vets with the name of the stuff and they said they could order it in but would not be able to place the order till the 30th and then theres at least a week till it gets there.. do you think this would be too long? also would all of my fish be likely to have this? i bought some fluke and tapeworm tablets that the pet store guy told me to get but wasn't sure after i got them if they were the right thing so i didn't use them(only 2 days ago)...now im thinking i should definitely try them? will they hurt the fish if i have gotten the diagnosis wrong?? im still going to try and get the Levaimsole stuff but thought maybe this would be good till then? i just wanna help my lil fishes ive become quite attached to 'em
yeah thats what i am thinking. a guy from the pet store said if i come straight from work today he would give me a syringe full! so im hoping to grab that today i will post back and let you know how i go. thanks heaps for the help
