Hi again.

Ok was sat watching my fish earlier and saw some babies, watched and realised it was my marbled molly having them, I waited and then started to try and catch some, ater catching over 30, I thought oh my god, my black molly giving birth too, it could only happen to me...lol.

Anyway my question is, I did already have 2 fry but now have well over 30, and my black molly still popping them out, I am soft and think I gotta try and get em all, I am willing to look after them, I have a seperate box in the tank with the fry in, but know I need to get another one, or maybe a whole new tank for the fry, if they survive does anyone know anyone who might want them?

I rang my local pets at home and they said they would take them, but am worried when it comes to it, they might not want em?

What do I do, shall I leave the remaining babies in the tank or catch em?

Debbie

Fry can survive in a tank if there plenty of hiding spaces, I would float a plant at the top of the tank most of the fry stayed in the plants.
Lfs do take fry they will sometimes give you strore credit.
I would invest in a 8 to ten gallon tank if you want to keep raising the fry.

Hi Wilder

What is lfs? When would they take the fry?

Debbie

Local fish store.
When I had platies the lfs would take the babies.

LFS is local fish shop
And they would take the fry once they are at a sellable size

I can't cope...lol.....there seems to be millions...ok a slight exaggeration.....a lot of fry, why did my fish decide to give birth on the same day...anyone want some molly's? Free to good home? :)

Hi Debbie,

Just for info I dont know where you are in West Yorkshire ? but there is a LFS called Paws for thought in Leeds, I travel a fair way as I live in Brighouse, but I am now adicted to them LOL, they offer very good advise are well stocked and will probably take your fish, they advised me that they would take Guppies (which am am new to and have 65+ fry ) when they are a good inch long.

Hope this helps and hope you enjoy your fry as much as I do.. Please post or send me some pics when they are big enough, I might have some from you myself if I find some room.

Becks.

Hi Becks

Thanks for the information, well I am from Wakefield so Leeds is not too far, after ringing a couple of pet shops, I think from what they have said they will take them when they are big enough....!!!

Here is a link....I am just taken a photo of em, even though they are only 1 day old.

Hi Plecs

Yeah they both acted a little strange, both hid the day before they gave birth, and also did not seem to want other fish near them and chased them away if they came near, they are both usually placid fish, they are both back to normal and seem happy today, bet they are both happy to be back down to their pre-pregnancy weight...lol.
