Hey everyone, my Nitrite levels have recently risen drastically I'm sitting around 0.8 but Amonia is not detected, I have lost one fish I assume do to the nitrite,I do weekly water changes, what else can I do asside from frequent water changes to lower this level? The rest of the fish apear healthy and what is the main cause of high nitrite, over feeding? I went away for a weekend and used an auto feeder, I wonder if I had it turned up too high releasing too much food. http/www.fishforums.net/style_images/ip....icons/icon9.gif
its good your ammonia is 0. You need to do daily small water changes, around 10-20% a time.
Quite possibly too much food yes. Remember most adult fish can go days without food if needed, or they will eat your plants
If I were you I would do small water changes 2/3 times a day until the nitrite level drops to 0. Change 10% ish then test again after an hour, and keep going until its 0. Your at a later stage of cycling so you should be OK once the Nitrite goes.
