Help! :shout:

Right well, got home from work on Friday and the tank was cloudy. Put this down to bacteria bloom since i have some new cories and fed bloodworms more than normal.

Anyways performed several 10% water changes to help cloudiness but have woken this morning, tank is still cloudy but my Fluval built in filter has stopped working and our plec has died  . I have cleaned the sponges to see if there was a blockage but still no flow, fortunately i have a second filter in the tank that can help take some of the load for a bit but any ideas on what has happened, not a blockage so probably the motor?

Unfortuantly the filter died over night so not sure how long the bacteria have been without flow, but have added extra aeration and thankfully its Sunday so i can get to lfs if necessary...

TIA

P.S. Is this even the right forum?

Adding aeration was a good move, but as you know time is of the essence, get yourself down to the LFS and get a new filter, and drop in your old filter material from the faulty pump. Keep an eye (once/twice a day) on Ammonia/Nitrite levels and feed sparsely (a little every other day) until any Amm/Nitrite peaks disappear.

Increase feeding levels and still keep an eye on the levels.

Whilst your doing this, strip down the old pump and see if you can get it going. If you can, keep it as a spare or ebay it!

Hope it goes well! :)

Thanks! :good: I guess the plec was the first to feel the pinch being so big, or should it have been last given its size?

Anyway thanks for the info, will be down to lfs asap and see if these things are covered by warranty, since tank is under 1 year old. Any ideas what is likely to have happened? :dunno:

Will be keeping a keen eye on all that goes on! :shifty:

Thanks again
