Hi everyone.... I really need to know what's going on with my motoro ray, and what I can do to help her.

Ray Info:
10 inch disk

Tank info:
180 gallon
ph-6.8
Alkalinity-110 ppm
Hardness-120 ppm
Nitrite-.5 ppm
Nitrate-20 ppm

Symptomes:
Breathing very heavily
Not eating
Not active (no swimming/digging around)

This started last night. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Water change you have a nitrite reading and that will be making her labour breath, also increase aeration in the tank, how long has the tank been set up.

1 Month. I've already done a water change, and I will continue to do so. And I've already recently added plenty of aeration. Is there anything else I can do to rid of the nitrite more quickly?

Did you put the ray in before it has cycled?

Rays are pretty tolerant of nitates but nitrates are another matter

A ray tank has to be mature and settled, best bet is to do daily water changes until the tank has settled down

Hope all goes well

Steve

Well, The tank has been set up for a month, and the nitrites where at 0 and nitrates at 15 a week ago. At that time, I introduced the ray; so, the ray has been in there for about a week. She used to be in an 80 gallon, so after realizing her behavieral change and testing the water in the 180, I immediatly transferred her back to the 80 (wich has perfect conditions [yes, I tested]), BUT she has failed to come around in any way during the past 24 hrs. Seeing as the 180 gallon tank's conditions are not my main worry ayt this point, what can I do for the ray?

Bless her if she hasnt come round then she not sounding to good, what do the gills look like, are they pale or red and inflamed, bad water quality can damage the gills.

Her gills don't have any visible difference...

Is she still heavy breathing.
Has she darkened in colour or gone pale, has she bloated up.

She's still breathing heavily, her color seems the same, she isn't bloated (or skinny), but I did get her to eat some this morning.
I hope she pulls around....

Yes, I know... I'll fill everyone in as things progress (for the better :look: Fingers crossed).

Not swimming around with her mouth open is she, as that can be a sign somthing is lodged in the mouth.
Can't think of anything else, been though most of it, good luck.

Update:

She's swimming and digging around, she ate a good amount of food from my hands. Her hard brathing has subsided to a faint gasp at times, and she's almost acting her curious self.
