I just went to the tank a minute ago, my platie has a white bubbley looking thing hanging offf his left side...it's about 1.5 mm long and wide... what is it? Should I out him in a hospital tank? Will he be okay tonight? :-(
Sorry, posted twice on accident... :D :*)
I looked again, it looks more like a clear scale coming out from under the top scales....maybe fungus?

i was thinking dropsy.....does it start with one scale and then a bunch..maybe it's a cut,my other platie has it now, too

From what you are describing it sounds like a fungus. If its not too much work, move him to a quarantine tank for a while.

I would turn up the heat to 28c this may help,
maybe fungus
also do move him, i did with my shark and it allowed my to treat just the one fish which was easy.

also the fish involve would normally become quite and may get attacked by the other fish? IMO

move him, turn up the temp and treat for fungus - it can clear up - it worked for me

good luck

Add two teaspoons of aqua salt (per gallon)

raise temp to the one mentioned above

Dont feed it for a day or two (then slowly bring it back on a diet of natural foods - peas, rice etc...)

Only treat with medication if it is absolutley positively the only option left!

I added the salt, and turned up the temp a little...Do you think it could be my mean likkle lonely molly, I saw him shove one of the fis against the side of the tank and nip his side several times  (Yummy!!! :X  )
