about a week ago i bought a black molly at a lfs. 2 days after it was in my tank every fish in the tank had ick... i had about 9 adult fish(5 guppies,1 molly and 3 corycatfish) and 12 guppy and molly fry. now all i have left are 2 corycats 2 guppies and all of the fry... the corys and fry are perfectly fine but the guppies are covered in ick...u cant even tell what color they are anymore.

please help me by suggesting what i should do...im thinking about tossing the 2 guppies and putting all the fry in the main tank(they are in a floating tank now)

please your help would be most appreciated

Are you treating with a whitespot med, turn temp up to 30, and increase aeration as the high temp and med will reduce 02 in the water.
You could move the corys but i wouldnt move any other fish, cory are not suspectable to white spot, then you could add some salt if you have no more scaless fish in the tank.

every time I get new tropical I get w. spot in my tank...it cleared a tank a few weeks ago...so am not bothering any more. save the corys I love them guys and they were first to go in my tank I think it was the med. good luck :good:

so i should get rid of the guppies? cause i dont have any whitespot meds

Getting rid of the Guppies isn't going to do anything in terms of your tank. The ich is there now, you have to kill it. Also, by moving the fry, you could potentially transfer it to your other tank. Have you turned the temperature up at all? That will speed up the life cycle. You can only kill ich in it's freeswimming stage, not when it's on the fish. Salt is a good treatment. Cories can handle some salt. It doesn't burn their skin, as is the common misconception. It simply has an adverse effect on their kidneys when used over a longer period of time. If you want to be safe, buy a whitespot medication. I'm not sure where you live so I can't suggest anything. I also suggest you search on the forums and Google about ich so you can be as informed as possible.

Your Molly may have gotten ich for a couple reasons. It could have carried the parasite in from the fish store, or the conditions may have been very different from the store, or not to his/her liking. They prefer hard, alkaline water or brackish water. If your tank doesn't have that, it may have been a stressful change on the Molly.

all right ill turn up the temperature a bit cause right now its about 71...also what kind of salt should i use?

Turn the temperature up into the low 80s. Aquarium salt would probably be best for this purpose. :) It might be risk treating with salt with the Cories though, especially on your first time. Is there anywhere you can move them and tret them with ich meds?

thanks a lot...im going out right now to get some ich treatment and aquarium salt
