I just got back from a 3 day vacation and before i left my spotted puffer died of what i thought was fungus, he had brown spots on his under side. Now in a seperate tank my pictus catfish has the same brownish coloration around his head and on his back. Its not ich but im not sure what it is. If anyone knows let me know and also possible treatments. Thanks!

i also just noticed that my silver tipped is swimming eradictly *sp* and has a slight discoloration of brown on the top of his head.

Hi - when I had fungus in my tank it was white and cottony on the fish's scales - but I think there's more than one type. Have you had a look at this article on common diseases? Something might ring a bell.

i think the disease might be Velvet. I inspected the pictus closer and noticed the discoloration was a yellowish rash almost on his skin. He also has a pronounced white line running down both sides of his body. Has anyone dealt with this before?
