hi there!

i bought 2 small red oscar babies [ one inchers] knowing they have ich spots. can some one tell me the best way to treat them? i dont want to lose them. they r real difficult to come by here.
and what would be the best food to give them except artemia which also not available here locally

help would be appreciated

The fastest thing I've found is Quick Cure-but watch your fish carefully. Also, this works best for fish that have mild cases, and otherwise healthy, as it can cause respiratory problems in sick fish...

You could also try turning your temp up over 32 degree's C as ich has virtually no chance of survival at this temp, just watch your oxygen levels (eg fish gasping at the surface) while this temp is higher than most fish like, it should be fine for the period of time it take to kill the ich (3-6 days), just monitor your fish, which your probably doing anyways, LOL

You can feed them anything that fit's in their mouths - flakes, small pellets, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, black worms... there is no best food, but variety is always good, along with a staple prepared type food.

There are plenty of articals on ich, including, I believe, one on this web site. I've only once had to deal with ich and conquored it in days using the temperature method. Make sure the water is well aerated either way, though if the Oscars are in a tank they can grow into then you won't have to worry, given their tiny size.
