Fish Fanatic
I need some advice.
About 3 weeks ago I noticed that one of my blue rams had some white spots on it so I started treating for white spot. A couple of days later my betta had it too and one of my platties. I continued the treatment and the ram and betta seem to be ok now. The platty still has some spots on her tail but the male has taken to staying right near the top of the tank in a corner - I fear for him as he's not looking too good - can see a couple of tiny spots on his tail but nothing else - he just looks unhappy.
The worst is that suddenly today a few of my neons are absolutely caked in white fluffy blobs (looks a bit like they have tiny bubbles over them) and their gills look really red. Some of them have raggy fins and tails - wondering if it could be fin rot but what about the white stuff? Could they have both?. I've been treating for whitespot but am now worried in case it's something else.
Tank stats are normal. I have increased partial water changes to 25% twice a week (I usually do about 30 - 50% once a fortnight). In the last week (thanks to english weather) temp has increased to 86 (am struggling to keep it down by taking some water out and adding cold) - heater is switched off. Have increased airflow and was hoping the higher temp might help too.
Tank isn't in direct sunlight.
Algae seems to have increased too.
Any suggestions? I don't want my fish to be unhappy. Going to my ifs tomorrow to see what I can buy to help them.
Thank you
Vicky.
