Hi, I am new to this forum however not new to fishkeeping.

I recently took ownership of a pair of tiger oscars which have been confirmed to be no older than 3 years old.
They both grew up together alone in a 4x2x2 tank.

I recieved my new mates two days ago, i introduced them into my well established 4x2x2 with no other fish ph 7.5 water is at 26.5 celcius and sometimes reaches 27 but never over. water has no amonia and all other levels have been checked by my local aquarium and all is well

One is approx 25 centimetres and the other is 20.

I understand that moving these guys could have stressed them quite alot so i tried my very best to ensure they had the best transport possible. they were in seperate bags which were covered and the trip was approx 25 minutes, the bags were oxygenated.

I floated the bags for 20 minutes then opened the bags and added about 50% of the bags water from my tank over a period of 3-5 minutes and then released.

My little mates still have not eaten, and the 20 centimetre fella is sitting on the bottom of the tank sideways quite often.

I am extreamly worried about them, if anyone has any info or can give me any advice on what to do it would be much appriciated i really would like to get them eating by tomorrow and the fella on the bottom of the tank what could this be?

I uploaded a picture of him on the bottom of the tank sometimes he or she is even more sideways at the bottom.

Thanks for reading.

That look like an attck of the 'oscar sulks' to me.

As long as all your stats are fine (and you should really get your own tests if you haven't already), then it's just him being moody; give him time and he'll snap out of it. Our oscar does it sometimes when he's having his water changed :)

They can easily go without food for a couple of weeks (fish, being cold-blooded don't need to eat as much as we do), so don't let them 'bully' you into letting them eat earthworms every day or anything like that :good:

As Fluttermoth said, they are probably sulking which I hear they are famous for. BUT I would in the future take more time to acclimatize a fish. 5-10 minutes is not enough. I would argue for 30 minutes minimum and add your existing water much more slowly, not 50 % right away. Also I net out the fish after my 30 minutes of slowly adding my tank water so that I'm not adding any (or very little) of the water from the original tank to avoid contamination.

Good luck.

Sulky sulky!

Like fluttermoth said, mine do the same after a water change and genrally wreck the tank a wee bit.

Worse than spolit kids.

Like has been mentioned, if your water parameters are fine, then its just typical O behaviour due to the move
