K we recently purchased a 75 gal tank and are trying to figure out what to stock in it. I bought 2 angels yesterday.... long story the store called and either I purchase them or they die.... theres no room for them and noone wanted them so...... I pick them up in a week or so.... thankfully I do have gravel drift wood and filtermedia from a healthy tank so no need to cycle :p but what else can we put in there?
my hubby whats a mock shark tank.... yes I know we would have to upgrade the size at some point and we will I would like to get my 100 gall ect all set up too. so I was thinking maybe a couple Balas some Cory Cats what else shark like is there that I can put in?

Is there any way to do a mock reef with fw?

some Adolfi corys would proberbly look nice in there maby 10-15 of them. Maby some Kribs but i wouldn't do this because i read that they may fight.

EDIT: grrr it made me type it twice :lol:

Bear in mind that ballas have the potential to grow to 18inches, but usualy get to about 12-14. They need to be in groups, and are renound for jumping, thus a heavy tight fitting lid is required for this tank. :good: You could look at RTBS (red tailed black sharks) as another option, or the similar ruby shark. Ruby sharks have all red fins, rather than just the tail, and also rubys have a far better temprament.

the tank comes with a hood, We are concidering other types of sharks as well..... this is what we are thinking at this moment
school of Balas
school of silver dollars
redtail or ruby- 2 or 3 depending..
3-4 angels
hoping one or 2 of the spawn survive so ican raise and keep them then cull any future spawns? I guess I dont know
1 pleco
a couple african butterfly fish
school of corys
flying fox???

sand substrate drift wood plants... both live and silk... moer silk then live though
ph=6 dH 1-20
temp=82
fitting all of the angels preferances

I have read somewhere (on TFF I think) that ruby sharks and redtailed sharks are aggresive towards other sharks though????

please say that the silver dollars wont fit please please please ... I personally dont like them the hubby does though.... lol

Best way to look like a SW shark tank is to make it a SW shark tank ;) but im guessing you've already decided its not really for you so moving on :)

Balas/RTBC/Rubys etc etc dont reallly look that much like sharks, there the closest you can get in FW (within reason) but maybe your other half should think a little more out of the boyish mindset, as the lads wont be that impressed with a 75 stocked with plant eating cuties :) one problem you may encounter with the Balas and angels is the activity levels, balas are very action and angels are far calmer.

Red tailed black sharks can be agressive fish toward each other and similar shaped and coloured fish. They may pick on the corries, potentialy killing both the corry concerned and the RTBS. Ruby sharks on the other hand are more plasid (generaly, there are a few exceptions) and thus a group is doable.

Luckily, a 75 gal would be te smallest tank that I personaly would advise Silver Dollars in, so these should be ok. Just remeber that they will sestroy any real plants that you put into the tank though.
