hello

i currently have an empty tank that is cycling but was wandering whether or not to go down the cichlid route

any ideas on what i can stock up on and how many. preferably i want want peaceful fish but would love to have alot of colourful fish but dont want them fighting all the time

any help or ideas would be greatly appreaciated.

so please help.

thanks

p.s tank is 80 cm wide by 70 cm high by 40 cm width

Hi Superman :hyper:

If its peaceful fish your after then a pair or trio of one of the dwarf species would be ideal alongside something like a shoal of tetras, a group or corys and a bristlenose perhaps, you could even stick to this South American Biotope theme throughout the tank.

Some species to consider include

German Blue Rams
Bolivian Rams
Keyhole Cichlids
Apisto Sp.
Nannacara Sp.

hello

that sounds quite good. i have a few tetras in my other tank so i could add them with the Cichlids. you mention you could keep a trio but just read that bolivian rams and german blue rams which i am considering pair off with 1m to 1f which is faithful so would i still be able to get a trio i.e 1m to 2f or would the females fight for the males affection

thanks

It depends on the species you choose, the more common species like rams and keyholes should indeed be kept in pairs but some apisto and nannacara species would be fine in a trio.

well ive decided im going to go with a pair of german blue rams. i like the colours and the way i am going to decor the tank im sure they will love it. thanks for the info

will keep u posted.

go for some apistogramma, but give the male a hareem of 3 if its a 180litre, 1 male: 3 females

look at the agazzis and cockatoos if your just starting out with apistos

hello.

just had a look at the apistogramma and i quite like the look of them. the only thing with the german blue rams are they look a bit too small if you know what i mean..

couldnt bring up anything on the agazzis on the net. dont suppose you have a pic of them.

thanks
