Hi, one of my guppies began hiding a lot, I am quite new to fishkeeping (only a few months in) so not sure about how to figure out what is wrong with him. He spends all day hiding at the bottom of the tanks and seems to be struggling more to swim this morning. My local aquariust suggested using tonic salt, but no improvements after 24 hours. The rest of the fish all seem healthy.

I also got my water checked and there was 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, nitrates was under 20 and ph was 7.6. Temperature is 27 degrees celcius and it is 105 litre tank. I do two water changes a week of 25-30%.

Can anyone tell from the video what is wrong and what I can do to help him please? Didn't know how to upload a video here so uploaded to youtube

He also looks skinny and a bit bend if you the body from its top. My first impression was worms or parasites.

gill flukes, intestinal worms, possibly other parasites.

How much salt did you use?
Normal dose is 2 heaped tablespoons per 20 litres of water. Keep salt in tank for 2-4 weeks.

If you deworm the fish, it should kill gill flukes too. See section 3 of following link for deworming fish.

I used 6 tablespoons (not heaped) for my 105 litre tank, so maybe I was a bit conservative with it. I don't have a hospital tank so was worried about putting too much in. Is it too late to add some more?

I will look into the deworming too thanks.

He seems a bit worse than this morning and sometimes rolling onto his side, hope there is still time to help him

Sadly he just passed away, seemed to have escalated very quickly. I don't know if it helps narrow down the kind of parasite, but he was coming to the surface for food on Thursday 3 days ago but had been hiding a couple days before that, on Friday and Saturday he stayed at the bottom all day but could still move about through the caves etc, today he declined very quickly.

Could the parasites still be in the water? What preventative options can I take for the other fish that would be safe for them? Should I still go through the deworming process?

Sorry about all the questions I just want to do what I can to make sure it doesn't happen to the other fish.

Most fish from Asia carry intestinal worms and or gill flukes. I would deworm all your fish just to make sure they are free of anything. Deworming medications won't hurt but could reduce the number of parasites feeding off your remaining fish.
