Help With Platies

so i have a platy who has just had a pregnancy---she is done i think- not sure. but anyways-- the male platy is chasing and nipping at her like crazy-- what should i do? just let them go at it? he is chasing her around the whole tank and she just seems bothered--i fed them and he stopped to eat a little bit-- then he went right back at her -- if anyone wants pictures i can put them up- -but yeah-- what should i do?

my guess is it wont last - it sometimes happens - maybe the male is just extra frisky today l o l. seriously though - unless hes asctually nipping her fins off its probably just normal

yeah i hope so-- but i just found 2 more baby platies in my tank-- one looked like it was wedged in my gravel so i went to go get something ot lift it up delicately lift and when i came back it was gone-- lol little bugger- so i'm thinking out of the babies the platy had .. there will be at least 3 that survive-- who knows tho..

i think there mightbe just enough cover for a couple to survive - with a bit of luck

How many males and females do you have? If you have 1:1, then that's your problem. Male Livebearers are constantly wanting to mate, and with only one female, they get frustrated and she then gets a lot of stress. With 2-3 females per male, he has more girls and each girl gets a break. This takes the stress off of them.

yeah thats prolly it-- a friend bought the platies for me-- so they didn't know the males:females.. oh well.
