Help With Plants

Hi,

Right know I have Java Fern, Corkscrew Val, and Cryptocoryne in my 55 Gallon aquarium. There are no fish in my aquarium. I want to fully plant the tank before I start to add fish. I am temporarily using a 40W shop light. I know it is a terrible fixture. I have an order sent out to get a 130W 6700k Compact Flourescent system. Should I run my current lighting 24 hours a day until I get my new light? How long can the plants go on this type of lighting? I am using API Leaf Zone as a fertilizer.

You dont have to run it for 24 hours a day, maybe 10 hours will be fine...

Just on another note, you are planning on cycling the tank as well before adding fish aint ya? otherwise you will run in to worse problems than worrying about lighting.

I am still going to have to cycle the tank. I just want to get my aquascaping done before I get fish.
