Can anyone help please ? we have tried to grow Live plants in our tank & none of them do very well , i add nutrafin fertiliser ever water change , we have added root tablets , we have gravel as the substrate & we dont know what to do ...i have read co2 helsp , is this worth trying > we REALLY do want live plants

standard tubes that came iwth it .

from what ive been told by my reading ive done on here ( ive yet to get my tank)

the spectrum on these bulbs are not very good for growing plants under.

and uprated ones should be tried..

i hope that is correct

Have a look at the pinned article on lighting in this section of the forum, this should answer most of your initial questions.

get some T5s mate u cant go wrong with them . and yes co2 dose help big time

Number_1_Jasper, Since this is your first time with planted tanks, I would suggest the following :
- try to get around 2W/gallon of lighting
- start by growing easy plants like Crypts, Anubias, Elodea, Hornwort
- plant a large number of them so algae is less of a problem
- get a few algae eaters like SAE, Otos, Mollys, shrimp, etc. to help
- sand is easier to manage than gravel
