Help With New Tetras

Hi,

I have a 125 litre planted Aquarium
it has been running 5 months,
it is currently stocked with the following

2 gold gouramis (very peaceful)
6 Zebra danios
4 dwarf neon rainbow fish
1 siamese alage eater
2 peppered corys
and 5 glow light tetras

all is running lovely
water is good

0ppm ammonia
0ppm nitRIte
0.5PPM nitRAte

i recently added the little glowlight tetras to replace a very aggressive krib who went back to the shop.
Although the tetras have started schooling and are very happy swimming around exploring the plants, when I feed them they do not eat they just put it in their mouths and spit it out.

Is anything wrong or is it just they need to get used to the new food.

Hi ,my glowlight tetras do this sometimes,first time was when i started my fish in cycle[given wrong advice at lfs]and since then twice ,at moment i`m only feeding every other day to keep ammonia to a minimum,but they`re normally ravenous,but lately they spit food out as well ,maybe they`re stressed? I feed them on the tropical fish flakes ,but they normally pinch the corries cat pellets as well.

If you just added them then they may not eat for the first day or 2 so just give them sometime

fed them some live Daphnia and they gobbled them all up lol so there cant be much wrong with them

Do you have to feed your tetras extra food like daphnia,i only feed tropical flakes?

Tropical flakes are especially formulated to be a complete diet, so your fish don't need anything else.

However, you will have happier, and probably slightly healthier, fish if you give them a varied diet. Even adding in a high protein granule or a different make of flake is good, or you can give the live or frozen once or twice a week. If you've got access to a water butt, you can go fishing in there for mosquito larvae; fish love live mosquito larvae!
