I thought I was looking after my tank but...
The water is not clear...
I do regular changes and it holds about 7 gallons.
Got two adults, a molly and a platty and 9 fry.
I am using white spot treatment at the moment and have treated the water correctly when changing.
I bought an epensive filter aid to help clear up the cloudiness....but...It has made it worse?????
I did a water reading and it came up with this.... I am worried about the nitrite and nitrate

Amonia - 0.8
Nitrite - 0.1
pH - 6.5
Nitrate 75mg

I appear to be rubbish at this but I am learing slowly thanks to all of your great advice.

Any help appreciated

Chris

Your nitrate reading is high, usually fetch nitrates down with daily water changes, you might need to rinse the sponge in a bucket of old tank water just slightly to get rid of the gunk, they say high nitrates can interfer with the whitespot medication.

Could the high nitrate be the cause of the cloudy water I wonder??

Yes, sounds like a bacterial bloom, often caused by high nitrAtes.

Check your tap water, and if it's low in nitrAtes, do a large water change (with conditioner)

If your tap water has high nitrAtes, go to your local fish store and ask for R.O. water, it will cost you, but should solve the problem.

That sounds like a good plan. I will do it right away.

Cheers

Chris
