Help With Fish Fungus First Time

I am good with my fish but my huge tetra has fungus on tail and mouth. I was told by local petstore to get Melafix. I have it----now what? Do I incubate the fish or can I put the med in the 120 gallon tank with the other fish? Do I dilute it ---I have read the posts on melafix I dont know what to do with the fish now? I also bought stress zyme ----I thought I would start there with those two meds as this fungus is a first for me. I don't want to lose this fish 4 years old---has been sick 3 days already. Please your comments and help thanks.

it depends on how bad the strain of columnaris is, but i wouldn't risk melafix with mouth fungus which is columnaris can soon kill a fish.
Myxazin and pimafix.

It will cost a fortune for meds in a 120gal.
Always best to issolate the fish if you can, but you will need an airstone and pump as meds reduce 02 in the water.

wilder thanks again another question if you dont mind all i have is a 5 gallon bucket of water fully treated and tested for quality i added stress zyme water temp ? as long as similar to big tank am i ok? and do I need to change the water daily and retreat i am gonna have to use med i have will run get the other stuff you sent me link on---but i need to get started right away -- bottle says treat 7 days then change water i read other posts says change water and make fresh and clean daily ? your thoughts.....

You will need a airsone and pump, plus a heater, all you do is a water change and add the correct amount of med back to the water removed.
You will have to put a net over the bucket with a rubber band or some string to tie it on, as the fish could jump out.

More worried if you havent a heater, unless you can keep the room at a constant temp.

well, fish freaked out of course when i first put him in bucket turned upside down he is adjusting now breathing a little hard air stone is going water temp is ok hope i didnt over medicate i called local pet store and they dont have myxazin of course thanks for all your help appreciated!!!

Whats your location, anti internal bacteria med by interpet then and pimafix.
Interpet do a med anti finrot and fungus but i don't rate it for columnaris.

I am sorry to hear about your fish...columnaris/flex is terrible. My betta girls are just recovering. We had luck with Maracyn I and II. I am not sure if it can help you but if you can't find Wilder's recommended med maybe this would be easier to find?
