i had a hand on back filter and 2 days ago it went bang! the cable had exploded beside whre it goes into the motor. So i bought a new external filter. Its a interpet epf 150. I now have it all set up but dont know how to get it going? I plug it in and makes noises but doesnt have any sucktion in the hoses or anything. They say its self priming, could someone please tell me what that means? im scared to leave it plugged in incase it breaks or something.
what do i do to get it going?
thanks :D

Connect it up, place the intake pipe into the tank, suck on the outlet pipe until the canister begins to fill, wait until the canister is full, then turn on ensuring you place the outlet pipe inside the tank before you plug in.

so basically you fill the canister with water

Yes but it's important to eliminate the air from the pipes also to prevent the motor from burning out.

ok i tryed to fill it with water but then found it has a crack down the side of it and i spilt loads of water over the floor :S
what kind of glue should i use to fix it? the whole canisters filled with water and the crack is at the very top and it about 1 1/2 inches long?

Contact ebay, or contact interpet and ask them how much a new canister would be, I can't imagine it being much, it's only a small plastic case.
