Hi there,

I'm going to start trying the EI method of dosing I've been reading about. I have plenty of bottles of Seachem Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Iron and Trace and I understand how EI works but I'm having some difficulty figuring out how much liquid macros/micros I should dose as it seems the popular method is dry dose mixes.

My tank is 77 gallons and I'm currently setting up this schedule:

Saturday - 50% water change, Phosphorus, Nitrogen
Sunday - Trace, Iron and Potassium
Monday - Phosphorus, Nitrogen
Tuesday - Trace, Iron and Potassium
Wednesday - Phosphorus, Nitrogen
Thursday - Trace, Iron and Potassium
Friday - Phosphorus, Nitrogen

Can anyone help me sort out my dosing amounts and if my schedule isn't quite right, any help on that would be great too! Remember, I'd really like to use up my Seachem Liquid Ferts first.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

J.

You should just get the ferts from www.Gregwatson.com and be done with it.

Very cheap and will last 100X longer and cost 100X less than the brand name stuff.

For a tank your size, fully plants and packed well with plant, decent CO2(very critical),

Add:

3 x a week:

3/4 teaspoon KNO3
1/8 th teaspoon KH2PO4
Flourish: 15-20mls
GH builder/booster: you my not need this, but just in case, add a 1 teaspoon after the water change weekly.

That's it.
It might cost 12$ for shipping etc, but the cost is about the cost of a 500mls bottle of what you are using now. 2lbs of KNO3 etc can be had at Candian Tire as stump remover for 5$ or so for 16oz.
Greg has everything you need though.

You will only need to buy ferts once every 2-5 years, and then only spend 20-30$ at most.

question..is Tom saying to add all the ferts at the same time 3xs a week..i thought dosing macros and micros together would create cloudy water..if you read this Tom is it better to dose dry or liquid..i mixed all my powder up with distilled water to dose 1ppm per but see most dose dry?
if possible could you give me a routine for a 29gal u.s tank?goin out on a limb here..
thanks..dan

Some folks do add it(mics and macs) together, some don't.
If you use something like TMG, it's always been okay near as I can tell.
Flourish might be another story.

Some like the routine of dosing something each day, so everyother day works for them.

Nothing is this critical really though, just within and fairly wide range and window.
