So I've chosen a pair of my bettas to breed. I saw one of my males making a bubble nest so I assume he's ready.
And another female seems to be ready too.
So I put them together and the male bit the female's pelvic fin and trashed her around. So I quickly removed her.
Any guidelines on this? is this normal? O:

Never bred them myself but i think it involves position the tanks next to each other first so he can see her, then moving her into his tank in a breeding net.

The male and the female should be conditioned for about 2 weeks. (live foods) The female should look nice and round and fat by the end of this.
you will need to have a spawning tank for them, which should only be filled about 6" high with water. The male should be introduced and then the female in some kind of jar/container so the male can see her but not get to her.
He should then build his bubble nest and a day or two later the female can be released. There will be some damage and loss of fins during this as the male will chase the female around the tank. they should then breed, but this can take a few days.

This is just a brief description so make sure you look into this a lot further and do plenty of research because you could get a lot of fry from one spawning and once a certain size/age all the males will need to be separated. :good:

like i said its a very brief description though :)

Mind guiding me? :D

Sorry I didn't (but I don't really know how they breed as such; I've never looked into it in great detail).

Both Sausagewinkle and Lilfishie are breeding at the moment - you can see their breeding threads in the photo section at the top of this forum which may be of some use to you :)
