Fish Fanatic
Hi,
I need some help with Benny my big pond goldfish. Some of you may remember him from his previous stint at almost dying - 3 years later here we are again. I've linked the post so you can read if you'd like. https://www.fishforums.net/threads/...ch-medication-not-working-at-all-help.481204/
For context, I have removed Benny from the pond with the other fish. I have placed him in a 50 litre tub which he has been in for 3 weeks now. I move him from one tub to the other one 1x daily so he essentially has a 100% water change. For aeration I use the pump that is usually in the pond with a sponge full of beneficial bacteria.
Reason being, he has these tumors growing on him. One on his side which grew and fell off leaving a giant crater which his babies kept picking at for multiple weeks (months even...). The real problem one is on the side of his mouth. It was looking infected, red and nasty due to the baby fish as mentioned before.
His tumors have improved in terms of redness since moving him to the tubs.
Now it's stopped improving and the one on his mouth seems to grow in size rapidly unfortunately. We noticed that he is now struggling to eat normal goldfish pellets because the tumor thing is restricting his ability to chew. After offering flakes, crushed pellets and once they have had time to soak in water he is able to consume them. His appetite is still there, just to add he is not starving as there is a normal amount of poo still.
I know what most responses will probably be to euthanise him - and I know its a possibility. However, same was said to me last time and he survived. I would be really grateful if anyone could offer any advice/medication to improve or stop the tumor growing or suggest what they think it might be. PSA - its only Benny who has these tumors none of the other fish have it. He is over 10 years old so it could be related to age. I was thinking maybe see if some antibiotic/salt water could help? I have no idea though...
I will try to get a photo tomorrow. Thank you so much for your response and help!
Lets save Benny!
