I started this post a few days ago as my fish were mysteriously dying:-

http://www.fishforums.net/Can-Someone-Help...ng-t188746.html

I've now very worried and I think I have found the culpret. Many of my fish that died had raggy fins and tails and I noticed one of my female guppies had a habit of chasing the other fish about the tank. Tonight she went crazy and started to dive bomb the other fish and nip at them. This went on for quite a while with the fish being chased around the tank as the guppy tried to attack them.

I have now seperated her from the rest of them and the tank seems a lot calmer. Are there any guppy experts who can tell me if this is normal and if it will be her that's killing off the other fish? I don't want to put her back with the other fish, even if she calms down, because I can't watch her all the time.

I need some advice with what to do with her. I'm going to keep her seperated for a few days and see if the fish stop dying. I don't really want her back in the tank if she's like this, but then I don't know if anyone else will want to take her off my hands. I really don't know what to do. Can someone help?

How is she wondering if she ill, or the fish she attacking are.

Do you think there is something wrong with her?

does she have any visible syptoms like spots, flicking/rubbing, any wierd behaviour besides the agressiveness?
oh and is she pregnant? sometimes when ready to drop they get slightly aggressive but i've never know a guppy to kill

She dosen't have any white spots.

How can I tell if she's pregnant. I looked round the forum and saw some pictures of preganat guppies and she doesn't seem to be larger than the other two females.

Some of them had bit's missing out of their tails and fins, they just got slow moving in the water and eventually died. I assumed that maybe they were dying from something, and while weak the other fish were nipping at them, but observing this guppy I've got over the last few day she chasing the fish - knocking them with her head and then trying to nip them.

Is her brain wired up wrong?

I think you have a desease and that why she going mental.
Look out for when the fish go to the toilet.
Check the anus of the fish for it looking enlarged or red and inflamed.
Check the gills over to see if there pale with excess mucas on them, or red and inflamed.
Finrot can be a secondary infection.

Thank you - I will look out those signs.

Is there much I can do if I have a disease? Or is it a case of waiting and seeing?

well if it is a disease, deoending on what it is, you will be guided down the best path for treatment :good:

Fish will attack sick fish, never know a platy to flip like that, I do get a feeling there something not right.

Sorry guppy not platy.

Thank you everyone for your help. I assume that I must have got an infection when I got my new fish.

The aggressive fish does look a bit more red round the gills than the other fish - but I'm not sure if that's the light or not. She in the tank, but seperated off. Would it be best to remove her from the tank completely in case she has an infection, or leave her in for now?

Does she flick and rub
Red gills, bacterial, gill flukes, to bad water quality.

She doesn't seem to flick or rub, she just seem to swim normally, as do the rest of the fish.
