Hi

Came home tonight to find a dead Zebra Danio. As you can see by the pictures, he has some red marking on one side, everything else seems fine with him

The other stock are all good, 2 clown loaches, 5 neon tetras, 2 ancistrus and 4 danios...

Can someone take a look and let me know what they think?

Thanks in advance....

possibly an ulcer/physical damage that has become infected and the infection has killed the fish.

sorry for your loss :rip:

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there anything you would suspect to be 'catching'?

Do you think this could have been inflicted by one of the other fish? They all seem to live peacefully with one another...?

Poor lil Danio :/

Looks like an ulcer to me, check your water stats to see there ok, sorry for your loss, R.I.P.

Thanks for the reply...

The water stats are:

Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - 0ppm
PH - 7.8

What are the main causes of ulcers?

Thanks

The tank is planted but not much, a large java fern and some vallis which is growing really well.

Nitrates are 0 for sure, test water every week and to be honest, they never seem to go above 0

Will this cause any problems, I thought the lower the better?

Yes you very lucky to have a 0 nitrate reading it good, just don't hear of it much so don't worry.
