Hi,

I have:

5 Harlequin Rasbora
1 Flame Tetra
3 Corydoras Sterbai
2 Otocinclus

I would like to provide them with the best/most optimum diet I can.

I'm currently feeding:

the Harlequin Rasbora and Flame Tetra:

Tetra Nutrafin Max Complete Tropical Flake Food and Hikari algae wafers (half a wafer crushed and dissolved in a small amount of tank water) and Interpet Freeze Dried Blood Worm on alternate days with one day a week no food.

the Corydoras Sterbai:

Nutrafin Max Sinking Complete Food Tablets daily with one day a week no food.

the Otocinclus:

currently eating algae and drift wood in the tank.

I do not own or have access to a freezer so unfortunately frozen foods are not feasible.

I was thinking of:

supplementing the Otocinclus's diet with cucumber. How frequently should I feed it and how is best to cut and prepare it?

a food rotation system for the the Harlequin Rasbora and Flame Tetra. something like:

Monday: Live Brine Shrimp
Tuesday: Flake
Wednesday: Hikari Algae Wafer (half a wafer crushed and dissolved in a small amount of tank water)

etc etc but what would be best?

I read on a post of Durbkat's that fry food might be an idea?

I'm stumped with the Corydoras Sterbai as they along with the Otocinclus don't seem to touch the whole Hikari Algae Wafers that I add to the tank.

Sorry for the long post,

If you're still awake your advice and feedback will be much appreciated.

Andy :)

With the cucumber there are different ways that you could do it, one is to blanch it with hot water and allow it to cool down and then weight it down, or you could just cut it up and drop it straight in!

I've tried brocolli and my fish love it! I cut the stem part under the greener part and put it in a cup of hot water to soften it up and then drop it in, sometimes it may sink otherwise you'll have to weight it down!

How do you cut the cucumber?

Into round discs like you would for a salad?

Or cut it half lengthways and then cut off section?

I cut it like you would for a salad only alot thicker and then cut that length ways and then that piece length ways again so you end up with 4 long triangles if you get what I mean!

Sure do.

Thanks bud, I'll give it a go. I hope they like it.

I did find that none of my fish bothered with the cucumber so post up what happens when you drop some in :)
