Are they filter feeding shrimp? I can't tell in the pics if they are or not but if they than they definitely look like bamboo shrimp to me.

i have a large mountain shrimp thats a filter feeder, they dont eat like that does, they actively hunt round the tank eating on algae on plants / glass, or eating whatever i put in. they dont sit and filter the water column if thats what you mean.

If you can let us know which country your in it will help narrow down the possible shrimp. To me they look like they could be wild type cherry shrimp or low grade chocolate cherry shrimp.

apologies, im in the uk. The guy told me they were blue crystals, i thought nothing of it until talking to a good shop owner who explained they werent crystals as they have no banding, maybe blue pearls? they have a very faint blue colouration underneath in the right light, but thought they were amiss somewhere.

If they are blue pearl then they are an extremely low grade, or the water pH and gH is not suited to their wants. Amazing how much the water chemistry can change the colour of shrimp along with lighting, food quality and to a degree substrate.

I have blue pearls and even after molting, they still don't look like these guys. Hmmm.....

At first glance I was going for amano shrimp.

I am on second glance too.

Bred as in berried, or young survived?

definitely not amanos then
