Hi

Hope someone can help!

I have an established tank 180L, Planted with 3 Discus, 15 tetra's and 4 Rams

I have someone who comes every month to look after / service the tank for me but he is on Holiday!

I came back today and the water has gone cloudy....... is there any reaqson for this ... all the fish are there and all seem healthy apart from the smaller discuss who lookes very thin

Any thought?? anything i should be doing now as a stop gap until my fish man returns

Thanks

Simon

Cloudiness is white

Tank been running fine for 1 year

Feeding Bloodworms (1 cube) every morning then pellets / flake every other evening

Thanks

Simon

Are all your fish there ? I mean there is not one dead somewhere hidden that could be affecting the water or any old food in the substrate? Also how long is it since you cleaned out the filter?

Has anyone done any maintenance on the tank recently, i.e. changed filter pads, cleaned the filter, gravel etc?

Do you have a test kit at hand? if you do it would be good to check the parameters

Hi

Looks like all the fish are there maybe 1 neon missing but dont think so (hard to count them)

Maintenance was carried out 2 weeks ago (cleaning of filter water change, gravel clean etc) - dont have a test kit!

Should i do a quick 10-15% water change?

Simon

Cloudy water is usually caused by a bacteria boom, a 15% water change should be fine, as well as underfeeding for a couple of days, It should soon clear once the level of bacteria in your tank has levelled itself out, and shouldn't really harm your fish
