Help! Super Skinny Betta!

i just got him from my lfs yesterday for a dollar!!!
when i took him home yesterday he was very skinny with a big head!!!
he is more skinny that the average betta
can anybody help???
hes a double vail tale male betta!!

yes he dose eat or he trys to eat.
i think he as betta depression.
or he could just be normal??

hopefully a bit of time to settle in and some TLC will get him back in shape

Maybe feed him some bloodworms. Hopefully if he's in a bigger tank than he was in at the shop, and has a plant or decorations to help him feel safe, he will feel happier and improve. Good luck.

it may take time but he should fatten up just nicely

if he doesn't eat for over a week, then treat for parasites.

my girl violet had this when i bought her at the store - she had stringy white poo hanging from her when i got her in the cup but not knowing what that was, i assumed it was a 'female' thing.

well, it turned out to be an illness and she was tiny and didn't grow as the other girls and well, she kept having stringy poo. and unfortunately, she is no longer with me.

what is the temperature of your water?

defintely surround him with lots of natural and fake/silk plants.

could be new tank syndrome as well. have you checked your water parameters?

yeah i don't think those lfs feed them!

i know at petsmart when they are in individual cups, no one feeds them!!!!

just give him a little bit at a time then gradually increase the ammount, if he hasn't ate for a while then eats too much it could lead to serious issues
