I will look into Zeolite further..........seems to have heaps of of benefits according to Google and not just fish tanks either...........interesting

O'K as suggested, I've continued with the 20% water changes and also added Zeolite..........here in Oz its called Triple O apparently.........

Fresh reading as from 15 minutes ago....

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 2.0
Nitrate 10
Ph 7
Hardness 140

So all I need to worry about now is the Nitrite............I will continue with the 20% daily water changes..........
I'll let you know as things progress..............cannot wait until the new tank arrives.............

Seems its left Germany and in containment somewhere between Europe and northern coast of Africa........(all this for a tank)

Hahahaha good question...............

The tanks we have seen look standard rectangular with the black joint in each corner........Unless we go with the larger Aqua Ones etc
but these all seem very high.....

The one we are getting is 10 mm standard but all the corners are rounded/curved and all one piece....
So for the price of 10mm compared with 6mm or even 8mm, and the fact that its slightly higher (22") the tank worked out around $50 cheaper then the standard ones and ours is thicker.

In the end I'm happy and gives me more time to plan the tank, design it etc.........besides, I'm still trying to work out our first tank so its keeping me sort of busy with that one....

All I know is that the tanks are imported from Germany...........

No idea on the name or brand but will enquire next time I'm in the store.......

Looks very nice hence the reason for my purchasing it (especially 10mm at a great price).....

O'K.........its been just on 5 weeks since I've had the tank and now my readings are as follows:

Ph 7.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
Hardness 160


I believe my tank has cycled??
How do I get the Nitrate down? Continue with 25% water changes?

yup it's cycled... wooooo

but bear in mind this is only able to deal with the fish you currently have in, add any more bioload and you have to go through it all again..... well it'll be quicker but you know what i mean.

nitrate of 10 is absolutely fine. just weekly changes of 25% to keep on top of it. it's only if it goes over 40 you need to worry, and there's debate over that figure too, some say up to 100 is fine.
