Alaska is very sick. She stays in the corner of the hospital tank. Her fins are kind of clamped. Her eyes are black. Her black coloring goes from pitch black to light gray. Her poo is clear and stringy. Please help!!!
could you please post ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate?
Are her eyes normally black, or was that a symptom?
My guess is internal parasites. The white stringy poo is often a tip off for that. If the fish will eat, try feading some internal meds, if not, medicate the water. However, this can also be a bacterial infection, no clue how to tell the difference, but I've heard parasites are more common and easier to treat.
I think its abit late now to do healing back then when I have guppy when their eyes turn black its a sign that they will soon pass away. Their ain't much we can do. just make sure the one inside ur main tank ain't infested. It would be better to tell us how offen u change ur water, clean ur filter, amonia lvl, nitrite lvl. Also the most important part is how u wash the sponge inside ur filter.
Her eyes where black when I got her but they changed to blue so I dont think she is going to die. IMCL85 I dont want to sound rude or stupid but Alaska isnt going to die Im going to treat her and she is going to live. Please dont respond to this post.
There are certain points when different people say I know this fish isn't going to make it. Please note, I am in no way agreeing with the IMCL85, I believe he was just sharing an observation from his past experience, sort of like how it is often said Dropsey is usually fatal. It can be heart breaking to be told this, trust me. I once had a LFS employee tell me the meds are more expensive than the fish and he wasn't worth saving. I almost burst into tears in the store, and the employee felt so bad he gave me meds from the store's collection (like what they use in their tanks). I think he was trying to prepare you for the worst, even though you are doing everything in your power to save her. Let us know how it turns out.
