I have a 75 gallon (US) tank that's been set up for about six weeks. 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites. I lost 17 tetras two weeks ago due to Ich. I now have a quaranteen tank. Anyway, the Ich is gone and I'm left with 1 10" pleco, one panda cory and two albino corys. Now my pleco has a 1cm white spot next to its dorsal fin. It appears slightly fuzzy so I"m thinking it is a fungus. What would be the best type of treatment available to me in the USA?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well that does sound like fungus. But as for treatment I'm in the UK so can't really say, but anything thats a well known brand and is for fungus related problems would do the trick.

Another good tip is to add an antibitic to the water. Most fish that are recovering from problems such as ich and fungus are prone to secondary infections and this most of the time is what kills the fish. Maracyn Plus made by Mardel labs is a broad spectrum antibiotic and will do a great job. Its available in the US and I understand sells for about $9 for an 8 oz bottle. Its also a great idea to have in for treating such as bacterial finrot popeye dropsy and all bacterial problems.

Let us know how it goes

And I hope your little fishie friend is feeling better soon

Thanks so much. I've heard of this product. I'll pick some up at the lfs on my way home from work. I'll try to post a picture of "Peanut".

I should have mentioned the following:

I keep the temp at 78F
I do weekly 25% water changes
I use Tetra AquaSafe conditioner in the water
I haven't added any fish since before my outbreak of Ich.
