Can someone please help me. :(

last week and friend of mine and I saved two female bettas from Wal Mart. Mine all of a sudden is floating on her side......she can't get to the bottom, her stripes......horizontal.....have disappeared.....and I am afraid she will die. I keep the tank between 75 and 80.......but I don't know what to do. I love her sooo much, her name is Morea, and I need help in saving her.

Thanks! :-(

Hi, sorry to hear about your fish. I admit I'm not great at the disease side of things, but one thing you want to check is your water quality.
What size is her tank? any tankmates? filter? cycled? do have test kits, if so what are the stats? Have you done a water change since you got her?Are you using a declhorinater in the water?

If you haven't already, do a large water change. You can do 100% water changes with bettas (assuming she is in a small tank). Just make sure you match the temperature. Make sure you use dechlorinator with the water change

(sorry if all of this is obvious to you, I don't know if you are new to fish-keeping or just new to the board).

also, you say she is floating on her side, is she making any effort to swim or right herself?

edit: oh and you might get more responses if you post in the emergency section.

What are you feeding her?
She might just be very constipated so fasting her would be really good right now.
Don't feed her for a few days.
Also if she's still eating, after the few days of fasting, a little bit of cooked, deshelled pea should hopefully help her poop.

dont sound very good. To be honest if you rescued her she has had some time with you (even if only a few days) and she has been in clean water and has been loved!
Any more info on her?

So good news,

I made it nice and dark and kept the tank warn and she seems to be doing better, she is no longer on one side and the swelling has subsided.....I am closer to her now than ever though so I hope she stays fine

Beautiful girl....Morea!

That's really good news. Hope she continues to improve :good:
