I am still trying to figure out what sex my cories are. I am thinking that if I have a male and female, I my try to breed them. Before I get to researching the breeding topics, I need to know if I have boys or girls. Can anyone help me with this?

Top pic looks like male & female, female being the larger one, can't tell from the second pic...

Easier to look from above, more noticeable with the females being plumper than the males, saying that looking at my 2 females albinos are huge compared to the very slim line male.

Yeah I have two that seem skinny and small compared to two really fat ones. Its are to get a pic from above without catching them first. Let me see if I can get a better picture. I tell them to stop moving, but they wont lol

In the first two of the above three photos, right one looks female, left one looks male, but it would be easier to tell if you had, say, 10 of them and took a photo of all from above.

I am going to get about 3-4 more if the LFS ever has some healthy ones. I have been trying to get good pics of these guys for a minute but they are soooo hyper!! :hyper: Its like getting a 2 year old to sit still for the family photo! At the moment, I think I have 1 male, three females, just judging from the sizes of them. 3 of my 4 are really really round compared to the smaller one.

Has kitty said for the first 2 pics, and the 3rd pic looks like a male in the middle with females either side :)

Thank you all for the help. I am still learning how to sex egg-laying fish. I am more experienced with livebearers......but livebearers are to easy as the male has a very noticable "little guy"

I am not experienced with cories and had the same question a while ago, but saw them spawning since and now the picture looks clearer.
My males are way smaller and shorter than the females. The females are rounder, they also have a belly unlike the males which are rather flat. It is easier to see when they are lying still staring at you, and the head is kind of in the air because the belly is preventing them from lying flat :D.

Very nice albinos you have. I wish I had room to add a few more of these guys.

Its a long while since I bred cories but from what I remember I think the anal fin on the males more pointed than on the females,, theirs being more rounder.
And you stand a better chance with a group of them

I have 3 sterbas cories i am going to get another two soon i would love to breed them but i have alot of other fish that will eat the eggs like :clown loaches, rams and gournamis but i'm not sure if my siamese flying fox will snack on them. oh well it would my nice to have some more cories.

thx xxx ")

I have platys and swordtails, not to mention cories will eat their own eggs. You have to have a separate place to put the eggs. I have a 10g that I am going to use as a breeding ground, and then remove the cories once they have laid eggs.

FINALLY SOMETHING I CAN HELP ON!! On top pic, the left one is male and right one is female. As for the second pic, i can't really tell but i'm guessing they're the same fish as on the top pic.
