Help Severe Fin Rot Can I Cut?

Ok my betta has had fin rot for ever now I've used a whole bottle of king british fin rot , half bottle of melafix, some pimafix, Whole bottle of waterlife myaxzin and nothing is working. The tails getting quite close tothe body now and I'm worried if it gets to far I'll have to euthanise him. No other fins are affected except the tail. I've heard cutting the fins don't hurt so if I cut under the fin rot and continue treatment with melafix will this help at all??

If you've gone through all that medication and nothing is working it sounds like there may be another problem here. Are you doing water changes frequently enough? Mabey you should check the water out, its possible that the nitrates/nitrites, pH, ammonia could be out of whack or possibly the water is too chlorinated. I would check those things out before doing somthing like cutting the fins. If you have done all that, then I'm not really sure, I've havn't heard of cutting as an option for this, but it may be necessary. Good luck I hope he gets better.

I'd be careful using Melafix. I'm sure others will tell you how it's safe, but I've read of people having difficulty with this certain medication used on labyrinth fish.

You need to half the dose of melafix, melafix and bettafix are the same apart from the concetrations

are you 100% sure that it's fin rot? do the edges of the tail look bownish, almost as if their rotting? if not there's a chance he may actually be eating his own tail.

The edge is white not brown. I watch him alot as he's in my bedroom I see no signs of biting his tail. No ammonia no nitrite and <10 nitrate the water is fine. He's ontgetting any better yet but I'm going to take the gravel out for a clear bottom next time Iclean his tank
