Help! Riccia Growing Like Mad!

Well,

Two weeks ago I bought two 5cm tubs of Riccia. Today I removed enogh to fill six tubs, plus I left what looked like three or four tubs worth in the tank!

This stuff grows like mad! My Mollies keep pulling it out of the nets, and it floats off up to its natural position and grows like mental. Do fellow growers of Riccia find it so growing so fast?

I might be giving some away if I can find a way of sending it correctly.

I can never get mine to stay tied down, it always floats, I've hairnetted, stringed but nothing keeps it down !!

So all my riccia floats as well, but it certainly doesn't grow that fast for me.

Its simply mad!

I don't think I've ever had anything grow like this. It's actually getting annoying. I upgraded my lighting, and my substrate, and added a heater cable (the Riccia isn't rooted, I know) and Its all kicked off! All the money spent wasn't wasted then. The Original purchase of a Profi 3 kit was deemed to be a little exuberant, so it went back (well, it was faulty...... ... ). Diy Co2 works for me.

yup riccia is a love hate relationship, just keep it under control im giving tubs of riccia away here in the philippines every other week im trying to lure more poeple into the planted tank hobby hehehehehe

ha ha. er i could carpet my rio 180 totally 4 tiomes over with the ammount i have at the moment. dare i say it but the new layout in that tank contains about one fistfull of riccia. the rest is in a massive bowl awaiting er... whatever i decide to do with it.

i am contemplating not using it at all but cant seem to bring my self to do so.

it does get a pain after a while. 18 months may be enough for me, it's getting a little tedious now.

i would give it away but it's full of hair algae at the moment as i've been a lazy sod.

Errm, I must be a really lucky so & so, cos I don't have clue what the parameters are, and its all going reasonably well. Just spotted some hair algea, so I must really get a water change done and start on the EI ferts soon. Just waiting to pick up a simple pressurised Co2 kit and a glass diffuser. Been looking at the D&D one, hoping Aqua Essentials gets a wriggle on and starts stocking them soon. Needs to beat the eBay price of £85 + £5 p&p however!
