Hi, I had a Clown Loach which died last week of what I thought was Velvet. I had treated the water, but when he died I did a 39% water change. That was on Saturday. Today I noticed that 2 of my Serpeas are starting to show white stuff on their bodies. It doesn't look the same as the Velvet which killed my Loach and i'm nearly positive it isn't White Spot(I have had fish with this) but I am not sure if it is Fungus or Velvet. Can any one help me distinguish between the two? It is more in small clumps rather than the sprinkling of yellowish dust the Loach had.

There's quite a big difference between velvet and whitespot or at least i would have thought so; here's some examples or white growth like fish deseases;

Whitespot;

Velvet(note the much smaller spots in comparison to whitespot i.e on the fins);

Thanks a lot, that site is excellent. Definitely think it's Velvet. It was a lot more advanced on my Loach, so I hope I can save the Serpeas in time.

Thanks again
