I just got a red corris wrasee from a LFS. they stated that it was reef safe. ITS NOT RIGHT??? I have a 125 reef tank, a few hermits (no need for them, no algae or other problems) a blood shrimp, a naso tang, a copperband butterfly, a flame angel, a bicolor psuedochromis and a mandarin. is there anyway this fish can be put in the tank??

it it's a small fish then yes it can go in the tank but they grow to about a foot long and all wrasses will have a go at shrimp. You might find it also buries itself and you don't see it for a week or so. This is normal behavour for them.

When large the coris may predate on the blood shrimp, but the chances are equally large that it will not; cleaner shrimp introduced before predators usually live fine. I personally would much rather have the wrasse than the shrimp or brittle stars it predates on; they are great fish.

In my opinion the wrasse was a great choice for your tank.

I took him back and got a filament flasher wrasse instead. Love the colors on him, as well has his top fin. In the future I may attempt the coris wrasse. I am in the process of setting up a 260 gallon reef tank. well building the stand for it, as well as ordered the new MH lights for it.

thanks for your help and suggestions anyway.
