Any help

Do you have a kit for ammonia, nitrites, & nitrates? Also, what are you using to dechlorinate if your water has chlorine? Any new additions to the tank? Any change in the household routine, such as rug cleaning, painting?
No changes at all we have well water. not town water. I was wondering my filter is really slow I put a piece of panty hose over the intake, would that do it.(One got sucked up).Maybe I should take it off.I had them in a tank with no filter and than put them in this 10gallon tank with filter, its sure stirs the water without the stocking.even on the lowest setting.I have no other test kits. But the thing is nothings changed. They were doing good.Could it be to many fish for that tank?
thanx Sandie
I sat the tank up about feb 21,so it hasn't had time to cycle. When I set it up I took the water out of my other guppy tank for a water change so I had lots I put it in the small tank,The momma fish did alright she is now back in the old tank with the boys. The little tank is bare bottom and has some floating plants from the big tank.It to hard to keep clean with rocks in there, the babies hide in the rocks. ) I sucked some in the bucket. I thought about putting them in the big tank. But I think they would be lunch.
for now I will just keep changing the water alot. When I clean the bottom I take about 1/2 the water.everyday. How do you keep the babies out of the filter?

Your pump could be working to little with the hose slowing it down. Maybe they are not getting enough oxygen? I have had a few fry end up in the pump and I just turn it off and dump them out. Never found any that had been killed by the pump/filter and putting a fine filter over the filter will reduce its effect. Also test your ammonia and nitrite. Is the water you are changing out every day the same temp as the system? Could be stress from the daily changes and without any gravel/sand there is less medium for the benificial bacteria. Also a reduction from three feedings to two will help keep it a bit cleaner. With no substrate they can pick the leftovers off the bottom so they should not need to be fed so much. HTH and sorry for the losses. I have 220+ fry and get worried when even a couple of them die.
Well I didn't change the water last night and I took the hose off.I didn't loose anymore so maybe that helped.Anywayz I went and changed the water in the big guppy tank. When I was cleaning the tank I was watching for babies like I always do and guess what one of the sneaky females did?she was having babies while I was changing the water.Darn babies up the hose and in the bucket. So I to wait til she was done than filled it back up. Its been something having guppies.Alot more to it than convicts lol.
