hi can anyone help me i have a big spot pleco who appears to be swollen from the head back and is looking red on his tails and fins (looks like internal bleeding) and appears to be paralysed and let me pick him up, there arent any fish that ever go for him in the tank and i havent introduced any new fish to the tank and not done a water change for about 5 days and he was fine up untill today. Could this be a internal parasite ?? all the other fish appear healthy and the water conditions are fine.
Any help will be greatfully received.
cheers

Not sounding good i'm afraid, is the tummy swollen up is that what you mean if it is parasites they can cause secondary infections, it sounds like septicemia has set in, you will need to issilate him and use an antibiotic but it dosn't sound good i'm afraid.

thanks for the reply i will seperate him and get some antibiotics for him.
is this process usually this quick?? he appeared in good health last night

how long has he look swollen did you notice what it looked like when he went to the toilet, is he sitting around on ornaments or plants as i find they do that when they are ill, also what do you feed him.

hi always sits in the same cave ever since i got him about 7 months ago but always came out when food was about this being algae tabs and blood worm (frozen). he didnt appear red or swollen last night .
unfortunately he is no longer with us when i came to move him 5 mins ago he was stiff as aboard. thanks fro your help anyway

Sorry for your loss, one of mine died yesterday and he was stiff as a board. R.I.P.
