Do these guys produce a mucus layer when introduced to new water ??? Remember a few angels doing this in the shop and it simply "peeling back" and vanishing after about a week.
Uv can do no harm mate but normally pops free swimming stages of any pathogen...

no bud they dont produce a layer of mucus on the blue face emperor angels yes, rockbeautys, etc

Hey Scott, a UV probably wouldn't help at all if it really is bacterial since they don't go through free-swimming stages. If you're sure it's bacterial you might want to try an antibiotic course. It's kind of a shot in the dark which spectrum you use (gram negative or gram positive) unless you can really figure out the disease and which type it is. You CAN double up with both antibiotics at the same time, but you really risk crashing your bacterial filter if you do it that way...

thanks for the info ski i am not chansing that tho but i am striping the tank down as i type so i can add him in a sick tank so i will use the antibiotics

thanks for your help

regards scott
