Can someone help me.. I have a black mollie and today she started acting weird. She keeps sitting on the bottom of the tank very still. Normally she is very active, but I dont know what is wrong with her. Is this normal behaviour for a mollie or is something wrong with her?

Hi PW,

no this is not normal behaviour,

have you tested the water/parameters ???

:)

Hi Wetwetwet :)
erm no I have not. Since I am a complete newb to this interest I don't know how to?
-_-

OK, PW you really need to get some test kits as its important to determin exactly what could be causing the problem and should be checked weekly/periodically usually before doing any maintenance/water changes.

One of the easist to use would be the eSHa quick test and gives a good instant indication. The strips used can be cut into 2 or 3 making them more cost effective.

eSHa

One of the fishkeepers tag lines here used to 'look after the water the fish will look after themselves' or something like that anyway -_-

It would be very hard for someone to guess what could be wrong without more information - are ther any other symptoms??

Could she have recently given birth and be recovering??

:)

Hi pw, as 3w says we need info on your tank.
Size, what fish, test results (pH, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia)

BTW it was my quote "Look after the water, fish will look after themselves". It's very true, 90%+ of fish problems are due to incorrect water conditions. :) Mac.

Well after seeming to recover.. my mollie past away yesterday, I think she died trying to give birth as she was very large in her stomach.

Sorry to hear of your loss it does sound like it was problems she had birthing :( It is not uncommon for livebearers to die soon after birthing or during birthing.
