Help!
I had to rescue my female white skirt tetra yesterday. She was jammed hard into a crack in the driftwood, her head and back were in and her belly and tail were sticking out.
I had to pull her out by the tail, which someone has half eaten. Not sure if one of the other fish was bitting her so she was tring to hide or if she got stuck first and then they nibbled on her.
So she was missing a few scales and half her tail, but she didnt go into shock or anything, so i thought she would be fine.

I scrubbed out my hospital tank and put her in with some tropical salts.
Then last nite i added the first treatment of primafix and melafix, just to be on the safe side.
I just got home from work and she is a mess! Her eyes are clowdy/fuzzy, & one is starting to hemorage and bulge.
Her fins are dissappearing fast, her tail and dorsal fin is almost down to the body! And where her scales are missing is fuzzy.
All of this in less than 30 hours of being caught. :(
I have just added more meds to the tank.

Have i done the wrong thing? What should i do? I dont want to lose her. :-(
Would salt baths help?
Any advise would really be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Stats on main tank yesterday before weekly water change:
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 30
pH 6.6
27C
After water change is the same, slightly less nitrate.
Used some filter media in the hospital tank. So that is not cycling.

How is the fish as it sounds in a bad way.

She is not good, but i dont think she is getting worse.
She not eating though, dont think she can see very well. Her eyes look a bit better, cant see blood in them now.

Any advice?

Do you know if you can put a full weeks dose of primafix and melafix in in one go without ill effect?

Or should i try salt baths with the tropical salts? That has some methylene blue in it.

Im desperate, is there something else i should try?

You will need a stronger bacterial med, sorry not sure what meds you can get in australia.

Can salt kill bacteria?

I have added some tetracylene tablets to the hospital tank as well as the above.

Her worst problem is she has a white ulcer on her side, round and fuzzy.
Her fins dont seem to be getting worse.
But she does have serveral patches of white/greyish fuzz on her sides that look more superficial than the ulcer.

You can add salt if she in issolation, carry on with the tetracycline.
Don't cut the med to short.
Good luck.
