Help Please Ripped Fin And Colour Loss

so sorry.
better luck with the next one. just make sure to keep thier water really clean from the get go.
cheers

Yeah i am gonna try and get some ammonia to cycle the tank properly before getting any more fish for it. I'm still working hard to get my other tank back to normal before they start dying on me. The ammonia has stayed at 0.25ppm an hour after the last water change so it looks like i'm winning that battle and the ottos aren't so listless so it's heading in the right direction but i know there's a lot of hard work ahead of me yet

you could wait until this tank cycles and steal some media in a few months if you dont want to do ammonia cycling.
and otos are pretty listless anyway. usually just stuck to something grazing only to zoom off to the next grazing spot. watch their breathing as it will be a better indication of how theyre doing than activity level.
good luck wiht your cycle. hope it's speedy for you.
cheers

I know the ottos are pretty lazy at times but the one was ill, he's got clear signs of the ammonia poisoning and before i did about 6 water changes yesterday he was just sat under the filter getting swotted by guppy tails and not moving. But happily he's gotten better, more lively and it looks as if his gills are a bit less red.
Like i said i know there's still a lot of hard work ahead of me but it's worth it if i can get my fish healthy and happy again

:good: :good: :good:
i like to hear that...keep your chin up and think of water changes as fun...soon the fish wont be a "chore" and you can enjoy them:)
all the best
